Common knowledge of surface wire drawing treatment

Views: | Date:2022/6/27
wire drawing

Surface wire drawing treatment is a surface treatment method that uses grinding products to form lines on the surface of workpieces, achieving decorative effects. Due to the ability of surface wire drawing treatment to reflect the texture of metal materials, it has been increasingly favored and widely used by more and more users. This article will explore surface wire drawing treatment methods from the application, classification, processing methods, wire drawing and grinding products, and related influencing factors of wire drawing.

application

There are various forms of metal surface treatment, such as sandblasting (forming a matte pearl silver surface), polishing (forming a mirror surface), embossing (pressing various textures), electroplating (covering a layer of other metal), spraying (covering other non-metallic coatings), and wire drawing (forming a satin like effect). Compared to other surface treatments, wire drawing treatment can achieve a non mirror like metallic luster on the metal surface, just like silk satin with a very strong decorative effect, as if giving ordinary metal new vitality and life. Therefore, wire drawing treatment has become increasingly recognized and widely used in the market. In the construction industry, there are elevator door panels, escalator decorative panels, and in the construction hardware industry, there are leaders, hinges, handles, lock decorative panels, and so on; Kitchenware such as range hoods, stainless steel stoves, sinks, etc. In recent years, the rise of various 3C digital products has pushed the application of wire drawing to a climax, such as laptop panels, keyboard boards, mobile phone panels, LCD frames, battery covers, camera protection slides, digital camera lens slides, and so on. There are also various other electronic products, such as Mp3, Mp4, DVD players, projectors, and so on. And what we commonly see are products such as locks, furniture, and luggage accessories.

classification

Brushing treatment can generally be referred to as sand sweeping, nylon sweeping, and so on. Usually divided into straight and messy threads based on different surface effects. Straight silk, also known as hairline patterns, and messy silk, also known as snow patterns, have a high degree of subjectivity in the types of silk patterns. Each user has different requirements for surface lines and preferences for line effects. Some people may think that their hair looks good, while others like snowflake patterns. Some like long hair, while others like short hair. The effect of wire drawing lines is often difficult to describe and define due to its diverse variations. Instead, the effect of wire drawing lines is determined by determining the processing method, grinding products used, process parameters, and other methods. Let's further explore the processing methods of surface wire drawing.

Processing method

The processing method of surface wire drawing should be selected according to the requirements of wire drawing effect, the size and shape of different workpiece surfaces. There are two types of wire drawing methods: manual drawing and mechanical drawing. Common manual wire drawing is mostly used for industrial Scouring pad of 3M, such as 8698, 7447C, etc. The following focuses on the method of mechanical wire drawing.

There are several common methods of mechanical wire drawing:

Flat press sand belt drawing

Flat press wire drawing is a very common wire drawing method. The workpiece is fixed on the mold, and the grinding sand belt runs at high speed. There is a pneumatic controlled pressure block on the back of the sand belt that can move up and down. After pressing down, the sand belt adheres to the processed surface for wire drawing. The commonly used equipment is a flat press belt sander. Flat pressing wire drawing is suitable for small flat wire drawing surface, widely used in the wire drawing of digital camera shell, Mobile phone case, etc. The lines on the surface of this type of wire drawing are usually straight threads with continuous threads. Due to the use of abrasive belts with a wide range of particle sizes, it is possible to use coarse-grained abrasive belts to produce rough and distinct tactile lines, as well as fine-grained abrasive belts to produce more delicate silk patterns. 3M can provide not only ordinary abrasive belts, but also pyramid series abrasive belts and Nonwoven fabric nylon abrasive belts that are more suitable for wire drawing. The abrasive belt will generate a large amount of heat during the overall grinding and wire drawing of this surface, and there will be a problem of stress concentration on the wire drawing side of the workpiece, especially for thin-walled parts, which will cause warping and deformation. So this method is suitable for small area wire drawing processing. Due to the downward pressure operation, it is usually applied to flat surfaces, and there should be no protrusions on the surface, such as raised text markings. However, by cleverly designing molds such as pressing blocks, it is also possible to perform wire drawing on slightly bent workpieces. The specific method should be discussed based on the degree of bending.

Nonwoven fabric roller wire drawing

The workpiece is conveyed by the conveyor belt through the Nonwoven fabric roller brush, and the roller brush rotates at high speed to draw wire on the workpiece surface. During wire drawing, two methods can be used: roller brush vibration and roller brush non vibration, combined with different processing speeds to produce lines of different lengths. Nonwoven fabric roller brush vibration can produce very uniform discontinuous silk (staple); The Nonwoven fabric roller brush does not vibrate and can produce continuous silk lines (filament or straight silk). This wire drawing method is increasingly widely used in notebook magnesium/aluminum alloy panels, keyboard boards, mobile phone LCD frames, battery covers, camera protection plates, camera slide plates, and so on.

The advantages of roller brush wire drawing method are:

1. It can be suitable for large-area wire drawing, as wire drawing adopts a line contact method instead of a flat press surface contact method, thereby avoiding the generation of a large amount of heat. At the same time, Nonwoven fabric structure grinding products are used, which has good cold grinding effect. (The characteristics of the Nonwoven fabric structure will be described in detail in the drawing and grinding products later.). In addition, the Nonwoven fabric roller brush can be very wide (the width of the Nonwoven fabric roller brush of 3M can reach 1219 mm), and the processed plate can also be very long.

2. With this wire drawing method, the wire drawing surface can have a certain curvature, even small protrusions such as text signs, because the Nonwoven fabric roller brush has good adhesion (the characteristics of Nonwoven fabric structure will be described in detail in the wire drawing grinding products later).

3. Continuous operation is possible, improving production efficiency.

4. A roller brush that can produce two types of wire drawing line effects using vibration and non vibration.

The lines of Nonwoven fabric roller brush drawing do not have concave and convex feel, but the visual sense of the lines is obvious.

Wide sand belt drawing

This wire drawing method is the most traditional and suitable for flat wire drawing, especially for sheet metal processing. The sand belt rotates at high speed, and the plates are polished and drawn by the conveyor belt through the sand belt. Usually, stainless steel plates, aluminum alloy plates, and other plates are made into semi-finished wire drawing products, in order to further produce products based on the plates, such as stainless steel elevator wire drawing door panels, stainless steel counters, aluminum alloy chassis, etc. The lines pulled out in this way are usually very thin and short, which can be called snowflake patterns. This method requires good adhesion of the sand belt, so that the line effect of the board can be more uniform. The Nonwoven fabric abrasive belt of 3M has better adhesion than the traditional coated abrasive belt.

Centerless grinding and drawing

This is the method of wire drawing using a centerless grinding. The abrasive products used are Nonwoven fabric wire drawing wheels or abrasive belts. Suitable for cylindrical workpieces, such as handles and handles. The pattern of wire drawing in this way is usually short, and the length of the pattern is related to the rotational speed of the workpiece, the rotational speed of the grinding product, and the grinding product itself.

Polishing machine wire drawing

Just using the rotational speed of the machine to drive the nylon wheel and using manual technology to polish the product. Suitable for irregular electroplating products.
