What are the differences between sandpaper and sandpaper?

Views: | Date:2022/12/28
When we use sandpaper, we find that there are many types of sandpaper. We will divide sandpaper into two types based on different application methods: water sandpaper and thousand sandpaper, because there are certain differences between these two types of sandpaper, and people often cannot distinguish them clearly. We can understand the difference between dry sandpaper and water sandpaper in the following aspects

1. Water resistant paper or treated water resistant paper is used as the substrate for sandpaper, which is usually made by using paint or resin as a binder to firmly adhere abrasive materials (corundum or silicon carbide abrasive) to the substrate; Dry sandpaper is made by using synthetic resin as a binder to bond abrasive (silicon carbide) onto latex and applying an anti-static coating.

2. The gap between the sand particles of water sanding paper is small, and the ground particles are also small. When used with water, the particles will flow out with the water, usually in combination with water polishing;

Due to the large gap between the sand particles, dry sandpaper produces larger fragments; During the grinding process, due to the large gap, the debris will fall off, so it does not need to be used together with water.

3. Water sandpaper grinds slower, but smoother. The finer the water sandpaper, the slower and smoother it grinds; Dry sandpaper grinds faster, but it produces coarser particles. The thicker the sandpaper, the faster and coarser it grinds.

4. Water sandpaper is used to polish more advanced paints, while thousand sandpaper is used to polish metal products, putty, and coatings.

5. Water sandpaper is thinner, with paper on the back; Dry sandpaper is thicker, with cloth on the back.

2、 Which would be better when using sandpaper or sandpaper

There are many differences between water sandpaper and thousand sandpaper. There is no better choice of sandpaper, mainly based on the grinding material and job requirements. If you want to grind it smooth, if you don't mind the slow grinding speed, water sandpaper is better; If there are a lot of materials to be ground and a fast speed is required, it is more recommended to use dry sandpaper, or first use thousand sandpaper for grinding, and then use water sandpaper for grinding

Is it feasible to use water sanding paper for dry grinding? As the name suggests, water sanding paper is polished and processed through water grinding, usually immersed or polished in water. So, is water sanding paper used for precise grinding?

Water sandpaper can also be dry ground, which is generally not recommended. This is mainly because if water sandpaper is dry ground, debris will remain in the gaps between the sand particles, causing the surface of the sandpaper to become shiny and not achieve its expected grinding effect; Dry grinding of water sandpaper can lead to faster damage and affect its service life, so it is not recommended to dry grind with water sandpaper.
